You spoke of changing churches so your kids had more exposure to other children. More parents should be like you an pay close attention to whom their children interact with. How to you expose your children (at an age appropriate time) to current events… the drug crisis, illegal immigration problem, ms13, sex trafficking, extreme socialism push, to name a few. I am trying to encourage my grandchildren to pick careers with job opportunities, learning a trade, skills to be able to support themselves and eventually a family…on campus college courses are so wasteful and exposes young adults to a world of problems unless they are “street wise”. Sad state of affairs, but unless they are educated about these current events, kids can be too naive …. we limit the social media when we have them visit, will use it as teaching moments…I prefer the “old days”. 🙏
SInce my children are homeschooled…church is a big social time for them and if they aren’t having normal interactions it isn’t healthy…they just go with the one or the none…so we listened to the Lord and found a wonderful church with a lot of youth. Like everywhere there are varying degrees of teenagers and I am thankful they have gravitated towards ones like them.. we talk as a family about social issues…as they get older and can understand them. we live in the world so my kids know that this goes on…when we see something going on and it isn’t right…it gives us a chance to talk about it. We don’t just keep them sheltered all alone…as much as I’d like too:) they are going to have to know what is in the world and what they can do to make a change.
