After having dinner at one of the Amish (Mennonite) homes, this was served at the meal. It was delicious and my children request it for most of our special dinners.
You will need the following:
- 2 cans pears, pureed in the blender
- 4 containers of strawberry jello
- 1 -8oz container of cool whip
Pour contents of jello package into a large mixing bowl. Add 3 cups of hot water. Stir until dissolved. Then add 3 cups of cold water. Add 2 cans of pureed pears, with the juice included. Stir and set in refrigerator until partially set. When you are able to stir but it is starting to clump a bit, then it is time to add your Cool Whip.
This is where it gets messy, I like to do this in my kitchen sink so that it does not splatter on me. Put Cool Whip into the jello and use an electric mixer to blend it together. When mixed completely, pour into a serving dish. Let sit overnight or for at least 4 hours or until set.
