sour cream pound cake

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar

Cream together thoroughly.  Add one at a time beating well after each addition: 6 egg yolks

Add:

  • 1 tsp vanilla flavoring
  • 1 tsp almond flavoring or 2 tsp lemon flavoring

Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with sour cream.

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup thick sour cream

Fold in 6 egg whites, stiffly beaten

Pour into greased and floured 10 inch tube pan and bake 350 for approximately 60-75 minutes.  Or you can bake it in two 9×5 loaf pans for 50 minutes.  Cool cake 10 minutes, then turn out of pan and let cool compleltely.  dust with powdered sugar to serve.
