I love cooking with my kiddies, something about complete chaos with 4 little children asking at the same time, “What can I do?” They are super fast and can get through a task quickly, sometimes I have to limit who does what foods with me, otherwise it is a disaster waiting to happen.
Well today it was my two little boys turn to help make some Rice Krispy Treats.
Be warned, this recipe will have much licking done in the finished product as well as on the spoons and bowls that you use:)
Here is the recipe that we use for our large family:
- 1 box crispy rice cereal
- 2 -10 oz bags of marshmallows
- 6 T butter or margarine.
In your large pot put your butter and then add your marshmallows. Turn on medium low heat. We used colored marshmallows from our neighbor. They gave it a slight fruity flavor.
Continue cooking and stirring constantly until melted.
Once melted, pour in your box of crispy rice cereal.
Mix it up good. Spray two jelly roll style pans with nonstick cooking spray. Pour your mixture into both pans evenly. I then wet my hands just a bit to avoid sticking. Press down and form into pan.
Let sit for a few hours, then cut up and enjoy.
