Why homeschool? new vlog series

I have been homeschooling my children for over 15 years.  When you do something for that long, things become “normal.”  When I am asked questions about homeschooling from other people, I forget that they want the basics.  I am starting a new series about homeschooling.  I am not sure how many videos I will do, but I have a HUGE list of topics that I will cover.  I will start out with the basics of homeschooling and move  on to different topics such as:

  • avoiding burn out
  • how to count real life skills towards high school credits
  • what about physical education
  • what about the naysayers
  • what if my child fails their testing
  • teaching my child to read
  • I am not creative, what about art class
  • I am not musical, can I teach my child
  • I am not qualified, how can I do this
  • I am a single mother, is homeschooling for me

The list goes on and on.  If you are interested in homeschooling, watch this series.  Enjoy the first one……Why homeschool?  Have a great rest of your week!

  1. Yay! Super excited for this series as well. I have been homeschooling for 6yrs. My kids have been both in public and private schools before that. I’m not a newbie but I love a refresher and fell we can always learn new things! So excited to glean from your wisdom on this. We started to homeschool because our 12 yr old son has high functioning autism and adhd and we didnt want him stuck in a corner somewhere just because he can learn best when wiggling. It turned out to be an important decision as not too long after we brought our oldest daughter home to school because she was/is dealing with the effects of Bipolar Disorder. Then about 2yrs after she was born our youngest son 5 was diagnosed with moderate autism and spd with delays. And now we have a gifted 3yr old girl. The Lord knew we were going to need to homeschool for our family and it has worked out wonderfully. I have to say I also love your curriculum and folder ideas. We are using it this year for my kids and i am also putting it together for my neice. It has freed up my time and I love that everything is neat and all put together in a folder and we were able to add a few things that work for us to your idea. so thank you! Have a blessed day!

    • That blessed my heart Gina:) I am so happy that you are able to use it and it works for your family. Now you can go spend your time doing something with your family. You will be amazed at how much more your children are going to be able to retain when you are able to teach them as they learn best. What an awesome responsibility that we can have as parents. Stay smiling as I can see from your post that you have joy. Keep that when the days get tough and remember why you do what you do. Very blessed to know you here.

  2. This will be a lot of fun! I have been homeschooling for 10 yrs, and I love it and thank the Lord I have this time with my children. Anyways I have learned so much from you and look forward to learning more. Thanks so much!
