honey chicken with quinoa

This is probably one of my favorite dishes to make right now.  I am not a big fan of chicken, but the combination of flavors, is divine.  This is a big winner in our monthly rotation.

sesame Honey chicken

  • 3 whole chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 3 T sesame seed oil
  •  1/2 cup honey or 2 T brown sugar
  • 1 T minced onion
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp salt and pepper
  • quinoa, prepared as a side
  • cornstarch to coat the chicken pieces in

Prepare your chicken.  When we do our once a month shopping, I separate our chicken into bags for each meal. —what I do is coat the chicken in cornstarch before I place the sauce on to it. I like to cut the chicken then as to what style I need it for.  This was already all cut up into chunks, I just thawed directly into the pan.  Cook over medium heat, until almost cooked.2013-11-04_00194 In a mixing bowl, mix your marinade up.  Which is all your ingredients.2013-11-04_00195 Pour that over top of your chicken. 2013-11-04_00197 Let them simmer and cook for an hour or so.  Do a taste test.  If you want more garlic, add it.  If you want it sweeter, add some honey, if it needs more soy sauce, then add that.2013-11-04_00199 I like to serve it with a side of quinoa as it has a plainer taste to offset the sweet tang of the chicken.2013-11-04_00211
