hmmmmm never heard much about it before until I had a friend who’s children are allergic to it.
So I did a little research, it seems gluten, is exactly what it sounds like its GLUE—probably not the best for our digestive system. I can see why a healthier diet without gluten is better for you. But it probably is somewhat easy to maintain a regular diet gluten free by eating veggies, fruits, and meats. But when it comes to children and snacks, it is going to be a little bit more difficult to come up with some recipes that they are going to enjoy.
I know I had to do some research to come up with some snacks that were gluten and dairy free. We did the hummus and vegetables. Made the peanut butter, egg, and sugar cookies. But I wanted to have something that was a familiar snack but still gluten and dairy free.
Then I found it!!
Chex muddy buddy mix or puppy chow
you will need:
- 2 boxes of chex cereal
- 1-jar 18 oz peanut butter
- 1 pkg gluten and dairy free chocolate chips
- 2 T coconut oil
- 32 ounces of powdered sugar
There it is, gluten free. Here is how we made it.
We then added 1 -18 oz jar of peanut butter and 1 pkg of gluten and dairy free chocolate chips–in the healthy living section at Meijers. I then added 2 Tablespoons of coconut oil in a small pot over medium to low heat.
Added about 32 ounces of powdered sugar. Start with about 2 cups and add more as you see to cover the cereal.
There you go enjoy your snacks!!!
