cold brew coffee

IMG_20160517_160326This is super easy to make and is worth it, I promise.  I bought a package of good coffee.  I chose Starbucks, dark roast–I may do medium next time as this was very dark and had a little too much smoky flavor.  I found my biggest tupperware container and filled it with water.  I then poured the coffee granules into the water and gentled stirred.  It was probably about 2 gallons of water and a package of coffee.  I covered it with a flour sack towel over night as it sat.  In the morning, I put a paper towel in a sieve and poured the liquid into jars.  I then capped the jars and put into the refrigerator.

To serve, I made a sugar syrup mixture that  I keep in a pint sized jar in my refrigerator.  I make this by boiling 2 cup water to 1 cups sugar and letting it cool.

When I am ready to drink, I put ice in my cup and fill it to about 3/4 full of cold coffee.  I then add about 1/4 cup of coconut milk and about 2 T sugar syrup.  Stir and enjoy!
